Have you an idea for play but haven’t actually got to writing it? Would you like to try your hand?
Look no further than the 2023 LEAPA Writing Competition: a challenge to write a complete play that will
take between 5 and 10 minutes to perform.
There are no restrictions, other than submitted works must be in English, and must be unpublished, either
in book form or on the internet. Candidates may submit up to 3 plays.
Closing date for entries is 31 st May 2023.
Conditions of entry and submittal requirements can be found in the Rules of Competition on the LEAPA
website www.leapa.eu.
The best entries will be performed at a public gathering later in the year

FEES: There is no charge for LEAPA members, non-members are asked to pay a one-off entry fee of €5.
A 2-hour workshop will be held on Wednesday 29 March at 19h on what to strive for when writing a 10-
minute play, and what to avoid. Anyone interested in joining should contact competition@leapa.eu.

Rules of competition:
Entries must be for a play, (principally) in English and intended to be performed before a live audience, with
an estimated running time of between 5 and 10 minutes. A series of shorter, connected plays, with a total
estimated running time of between 5 and 10 minutes are also acceptable.
There is a maximum of three plays per person. Entries must be original works of the author and must be
unpublished, either in book form or on the internet.
Closing for submittals is midnight on Wednesday 31 st May 2023.
Entries are to be submitted in electronic form in a WORD file with an identifying filename. To ensure
anonymity of the authors, all entries must be submitted to LEAPA at competition@leapa.eu. The author
must not be identified in the text itself.
The LEAPA competition secretary will copy the text into a second competition file for transmittal to the
jury. Only after all entries have been voted on by the jury will the authors be identified to the jury.
The decision of the jury is final.
By submitting an entry, the author expressly agrees to a public performance and/or reading of the author’s
work in the context of a LEAPA-organised event. All other rights to publication and broadcast shall be
retained by the author.

The relevant amount is to be transferred to the LEAPA account (BCEE) LU98 0019 4255 8932 5000. As
communication, please state the filename of the submitted Word document.
Entries will be accepted only after confirmation of the transfer.
